Abigail Leonard is a sculptor and jewelry designer living and working in the mountains of western North Carolina.
Since receiving her BFA in Jewelry and Metals from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, her practice has expanded to include elements of glass, wood, and textiles. Her work has been exhibited internationally.
Abigail Leonard is inspired by handmade objects and how they link the generations of people who create and care for them. Working with glass, metal, wood, and textiles, Abigail explores the ability of an inherited object, motif, or visual idea to hold value. Drawing on her own family’s emotional, cultural, and visual inheritances, Abigail reinterprets traditional craft elements to reveal what makes an object valuable enough to become an heirloom.
